Sometimes Stubborn Is Good

On Being Stubborn :

Have you ever been called stubborn? When I see the word stubborn I get a visual of a mule sitting in the middle of the road on his haunches with someone trying to coax him and pull him to get up and move, and he just won't budge, or I get a visual of a child with his arms folded across his chest saying, "I won't, I won't!"

There have been times that I have been that mule or been that child and frankly speaking, that's not a good look. It's a look that requires change. Hey, don't judge! I may not be all that I want to be, but thank God I sure ain't what I used to be, and I'm still a work in progress. Yet, there's one thing I'm glad to be positively stubborn about, and that's this verse:

“So remember this and keep it firmly in mind: The Lord is God both in heaven and on earth, and there is no other." Deuteronomy 4:39 (NLT)

God said it! I believe it! And that settles it! I shall NOT be moved!

Any Spades Players in the House?

Here's a thought that crossed my mind this morning:

In the game of Spades, spades trump and rule over everything at the card table. A lowly three of spades can top aces, kings, and queens of any other suit. When you and your partner both receive almost all of the spades it will bring death to your opponents, and your lifespan at the card table can be an eternity.

In the Kingdom, grace is trumps and rules over death-causing sin. God's grace can cause people in the highest places, as well as kings and queens in all of their royalty and power to get in line, and support the righteous dreams and visions of a lowly man or woman. When you receive God's grace you have hit the Father Lode and your life WILL be an eternity!

So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God’s wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 5:21(NLT)

COME INTO THE LIGHT

Do you remember the smash hit single made by Boys II Men called End of The Road?

Just the other day I was listening to it and singing the chorus:  "We've come to the end of the road still I can't let go..."

It made me think of a period of my life when I was operating in a different understanding. There were many times that I would come to the end of the road called, me; but I couldn't let go because I just couldn't see what was up ahead. It was very dark and I was afraid. So I spent a lot of time crawling around in the darkness. But, it was in that darkness that I finally learned to let go, and let God, and gradually, light replaced the darkness and I saw the way.

Some folks like to say: "He made a way out of no way."  But as for me, I have learned that the way was always there, but back then I just couldn't see it.  I once was blind and now, I see.

The Lord opens the eyes of the blind. The Lord lift up those who are weighed down. The Lord loves the godly.  Psalm 146:8  (NLT)
