Back in the day, when I was a kid in school of reading, writing and ‘rithmetic I loved to erase the blackboards, (yes, we used blackboards back then). I was the blackboard eraser monitor.  The teacher would write on the board what we were going to do for that day in one column and, in another column she would write a long list of classroom plans for the next month. At the end of the day it was my job to erase the blackboard.  One time I erased the wrong column. My teacher was upset and not happy as she said, “You erased the wrong thing! You erased my monthly plans! Now I have to write them all over again.”

Now, as an adult, living in the school of life, when I write my plans on the blackboard of my heart and mind, and some of them don’t come to pass, I don’t let it keep me down. I’ve learned to write my plans on my inner blackboard and just give God the eraser.

Many are the plans in a person's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails.
Proverbs 19:21(NIV)
