The "peace officer" is a public-sector employee or agent whose primary responsibilities involve the enforcement of laws. This terminology can include police officers, corrections officers, customs officers, state troopers, and so on … there is a plethora of titles that fall under the term "peace officer". Traditionally it is anyone who is sworn in, given a badge and weapon, and the authority to arrest, or refer an arrest for a criminal prosecution. The peace officer's purpose is all about law enforcement. When I take the same word "peace", and put it with the same word "officer" I get a completely different meaning.
The "peace officer" is Jesus Christ. With His authority He took me out from under the burden of prosecution for the law that try as I might, I just couldn't keep, and He brought me into grace when I accepted Him as my Lord and Savior. Oohhh, the peace that has followed me ever since.
"Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:7 NLT
